up to 300 people per day. The reason for that is if new people follow you and you are maxed out on following back for the day then you will not be able to follow anyone back for 12-24 hours. So you want to leave yourself a “buffer” so that you can follow new people back instead of doing something like following <del>1,000</del> 400 people on a Twitter List per day.

In my particular case I am retweeting the Lists that I created in the hopes that people will realize that Twitter Lists are much more efficient at showing appreciation to followers who follow you back and is a way to thank everyone who follows you. The problem with retweeting tweets that only contain up to 10 people in those tweets is that that method is very limited and if you retweeted every single tweet to show appreciation to people who followback then you would be spending all day retweeting tweets. So by retweeting a List you can thank everyone all at once and in a permanent and ongoing way.

You can use Twitter Tools like the Twitter Dashboard or Twitter TweetDeck to be able to control and view accounts and Tweets, but Lists are awesome for doing something like this – Let’s say you have 1,000’s of Followers and you have 10 people that you do not want to miss any Tweets by those 10 people. If you add those 10 people to a List that you create then you can monitor only those 10 people’s Tweets by viewing the Twitter Stream in that particular List.

You should continue to check your Twitter account daily for any new followers and follow them back. You can also use a combination of the Twitter List strategy above and the older Twitter Followback strategy below.

Let people know you followback. I recommend adding something like “I followback”
